Dutch Cheese Museum

The Hollands Kaasmuseum is located in the Waaggebouw (weighing house) at the cheese market. Visit the permanent exhibition of old tools and instruments for dairying throughout the centuries. Life in the countryside and the production of and trade in cheese are shown using a slide presentation and old film images. Be sure not to miss the collection of women portraits from the 16th century, showing traditional costumes from various regions in Noord-Holland. There is a magnificent treasure hunt for children, during which they can become a professor in the history of cheese! Guided tours through the museum are held for groups and include cheese tasting.
